Ottawa, Ont. – Softball Canada is pleased to announce the list of athletes who have been selected to represent Team Canada at the Women’s Slo-Pitch Border Battle. The Canadian Women’s Slo-Pitch Border Battle team will be looking to bounce back from a 14-5 loss in Kitchener, Ont. last summer. This year’s edition will be played in Midland, Mich. from July 25-28.
Team Canada defeated the United States 11-7 at the first edition of the Women’s Slo-Pitch Border Battle held in Oklahoma City, Okla. in 2017.
“It’s an honour to be back as the head coach of such a talented group of ladies and to represent Canada” said Tony Carnelos, Head Coach of the Canadian Women’s Slo-Pitch team. “I look forward to seeing what they can do together on the field this July.”
The list of athletes selected to participate was chosen by the coaching staff and a panel of Slo-Pitch experts from across the country. Performance at provincial, national and international events was used as one of the major contributors to the selections.
The coaching staff will consist of Tony Carnelos (Georgettown, Ont.) who will serve as the head coach with Bruce Collett (Brampton, Ont.) and Kareena Zanolli (Taber, Alta.) serving as the assistant coaches.
